Abstract

In the months of December 2021 to March 2022 the ITA group of research (ATMOSRAD)* have made the monitoring of rainfall and low energy gamma rays in São José dos Campos, Brazil region. A sodium iodide NaI (Tl) (3” x 3”) scintillator was used, coupled to a photomultiplier (PM) and associated electronics. All of these instruments are capable of measuring ionizing radiation between 200 keV and 10.0 MeV. It can be seen from the measurements made by the scintillator that the detected radiation is related to the intensity of rainfall at the same time of the observations.
